I’m a Stanford-trained psychiatrist based in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, who works with a wide range of patients throughout California, using both medication and therapeutic treatment approaches.

Approach

My treatment philosophy embraces a holistic approach to helping clients explore their lives and grow. I offer medication evaluation and management as well as individual therapy, utilizing the latest treatment approaches. I employ an integrative style of psychotherapy, utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness techniques to provide individualized treatment to each client.

Services

Initial Consultation

Before scheduling an appointment, I offer a brief phone consultation (10-15 minutes). During this call, we will discuss what you may be looking for and how I may be of help. If I seem like a good fit, we can schedule an initial appointment.

Evaluation

For new patients, my evaluation process usually takes about 2 hours (2-3 sessions). During this time, I complete a thorough assessment of your symptoms, any past treatment, and your personal background, and then I develop and share with you my comprehensive treatment recommendations.

Medication Management

My medication management follow up sessions are 30-45 minutes and, on average, are scheduled every 1-3 months, depending on the patient and the medication(s). I work with individuals with a wide range of past experience using medications -- some have never taken any psychiatric medications, others have been on a prescribed regimen for years, and many are in various stages in between.

Individual Therapy

My psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes and are usually scheduled weekly or every other week. I utilize an integrative style of psychotherapy, incorporating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and mindfulness techniques to provide individualized treatment to each patient. If indicated, therapy sessions can include medication management as a part of the session.
